In April 2008, Equity Capital Resources Plc launched its first capital market product called the Equity Capital Resources Unit Trust (ECRUT). ECRUT is a collective investment scheme (mutual fund) authorized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zambia. The ECRUT consists of three sub funds balanced fund; equity fund and income fund. In September 2009 ECR Plc launched a second sub fund under the UNIT TRUST called the ECRUT Equity fund which purely invests in listed shares on Lusaka Stock Exchange. In 2010 the Income Fund was launched and it invests primarily in fixed income securities and term deposits.
The ECRUT has a custodian Stanbic Bank (Z) Ltd and the Trustee are AMG Global Trustees. The ECRUT auditors are HLB Global Advisory & Accounting Network (Zambia), while CTTK Chartered Accountants audits ECR Plc Operations.
ECR Plc also manages an ECRUT ZICA Property Fund which is a member based investment scheme that targets the accounting professionals who are members of ZICA for purposes of investing into an office park building
In its quest to provide tailor made fund management services, ECR Plc commenced Private Investment Fund management operations in October 2008. This service targets high net worth individuals and corporate institutions. In managing these funds, ECR Plc will re-invest in both long term and short term financial instruments.
ECR Plc is a member of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Plc and can serve as investment advisors and brokers through issuance of equities and corporate bonds.
ECR Plc is able to organize venture capital finance targeting the growth of small and medium enterprises through equity and debt instruments in particular preference shares and debt financing coupled with management and technical support.
In April 2010, ECR Plc became a member of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Plc, thereby allowing the company to trade securities and sponsor the listing and issuance of securities on the Exchange.
As a dealers representative the company is engaged in the valuation of securities that include the listed shares on the Lusaka Securities Exchange and also the valuation of the mutual fund that is currently offers.
